Backyard Tour August 2012
A video tour of some of the plants residing in the Cliff Garden project in summer 2012, including sage, rosemary, strawberries, borage, kale, spearmint, chard, chamomile, tomatillo, Thai eggplant, tomatoes, basil, ground cherries, curry, lemon balm, valerian, Mexican sunflower, jalapenos, asparagus, potatoes.
All but the kale and chard have been grown from seed, during free time on weekends. I spent about 2 hours a week working in the garden (mainly harvesting, eating, pruning existing shrubs, clearing walkways, weeding a little). The garden is irrigated by an existing 'rain sensitive' system, which waters once a week.
I also added home-made compost to some of the beds, mulched with onsite twigs/brush/cardboard, and found bricks and stones to line the bed in the previous home-owners 'trash pile' in the backyard (zone 5).
